Tuesday Evening Gravel Rides: What To Expect

Tuesday Evening Gravel Rides: What To Expect

If you’ve been wanting to explore the local gravel scene but aren't sure where to start—or if you're just looking for a solid group of people to roll with—our Tuesday Evening Gravel Rides are for you.

We know hitting the dirt for the first time can feel a little intimidating. Will I get left behind? Is my bike right for this? What’s the vibe?

Let’s break down exactly what you can expect so you can roll up to the starting line with zero stress.

1. The Vibe: Casual & Strictly "No-Drop"

First things first: this is not a race. This is a beginner-friendly, casual social ride. "No-drop" means exactly what it sounds like—nobody gets left behind. We ride at a conversational pace, regroup at trail intersections, and make sure everyone is having a good time. If you’re looking to hammer out a personal record, this isn't the night for it. If you're looking to enjoy the evening and meet great people, you're in the right place.

2. The Terrain: Mixing It Up

To keep things fresh, we try to visit a different local trail every single week. Because our local options vary, the terrain changes slightly from Tuesday to Tuesday:

  • The Standard: Most weeks, we are on classic, unpaved gravel trails.

  • The Wildcard: Occasionally, we’ll hit a route that is mostly paved with a short gravel or dirt connector.

Don't worry—we always announce the specific trail and route details ahead of time so you know exactly what’s under your tires.

3. The Gear: Keep It Simple

You don’t need a high-end, dedicated carbon gravel rig to join us.

  • The Bike: A standard gravel bike or a hybrid fitness bike works perfectly.

  • The Tires: We recommend a tire width of 40mm or wider to keep you comfortable and stable on the loose stuff.

  • The Essentials: Bring a helmet, a water bottle, a flashing rear light, and a spare tube that fits your bike just in case.

4. The Logistics (We Roll at 6:30)

We meet every Tuesday evening. We aim to gather by 6:15 PM to chat and prep. We know life happens and traffic can be tough—if you are running a few minutes late, just send us a message! If you communicate with us, we are more than happy to hold the group for about 10 minutes to make sure you get to ride.

Want to join us this week? We manage all our ride locations and RSVPs through the St. Louis Area Mountain Bikers Meetup group. Head over there to see where we're headed this week and get the latest updates.

5. The Post-Ride Ritual

For us, the ride is only half the fun. After we wrap up and pack the bikes, we usually head to a nearby local spot to grab a bite of food and a cold beer. It’s the perfect way to wind down, talk bikes, and connect with the community.

Ready to Roll?

Whether you're a seasoned gravel rider looking for a relaxed weeknight spin or a total beginner eager to get your tires dusty, we’d love to have you.
